Yep!!! I'm finally off to see the queen of pop on May 24th. ;) At the Sheffield Hallam Arena, England. Kick off...8pm. Not sure who the support act is. Telling you now as I get busy..and don't come here as often as I like. Looking forward to it..he is a legend. Some great songs, my favourites being The One, Sacrifice, Your Song, and Bennie and the Jets. 8-) Will post up a review on this thread once I've seen him.

Elton seems to have lost his edge. He's just coasting now, spending his millions.

I wish I had millions to spend LOL then I could coast too. At least he is still touring, which is more than I can say for Jeff.

A collaborator of our Jeff too. :) Elton and Jeff did record some stuff around 1978 ish. Don't know if it was an album's worth but I sure know it was never released.

You will indeed get a concert review. Unfortuntaly we missed the support act. The Storys were finishing as we arrived. Apparently The Storys are a big fave of Elton's, a four piece band from Ireland, I believe. Elton kicked off with my favourite track Love Lies Bleeding/Funeral For A FrIEND. Then it was a rundown of the hits, Daniel, Rocket Man, intemixed with terrific songs that ar less familiar, All The Young Girls Love Alice, Burn Down The Mission. Elton appeared to put his heart and soul into every track. Before the magnificent encore he spent a good few minutes signing autographs....a you tube clip

A wonderful night. :) :) :)

I can't believe that Reg actually took time to sign autographs for folks in the crowd! You never see that at live shows, especially with someone of his stature.

Indeed Chippa. Even more astonishing when he once was reported to say that he 'loathes signing autographs.' Apparently he has great affection for Sheffield. He played there in a place called the Rub a Dub Dub with Long John Baldry in the late sixties.

Here is a very entertaining improv from Sir Elton - and no, we don't know how much of a heads-up he really got beforehand, but this on-the-spot creativity is just soo neat --had to share. Go Elton!

Elton John has got a great body of work. Personally, I prefer the songs he recorded while I was already following his career ... "Town Of Plenty", "Healing Hands", "The One", "Whitewash County", "On Dark Street", "Circle Of Life", "The Power", "Made in England", "You Can Make History Young", "If the River Can Bend", "The Trail We Blaze", "Perfect Love", "Answer in the Sky", "Porch Swing in Tupelo", "They Call Her the Cat".

He still got what it takes to record songs. It's just that he seems to have tended to put filler on his albums whilst some of his b-sides have been great. "Peachtree Road" is a great album, but I guess it would have sold much better with some of the brilliant b-sides included.

You lucky person! :) I wish that the Elton John/Billy Joel concert that had been scheduled to play here hadn't had to be canceled due to illness. I think it would've been a marvelous show.
